Relax and unwind at Calypso, a beautifully restored retro holiday house that captures the easy charm and nostalgia of the 1960s.
This mid-century gem has a style all its own. Many original features have been preserved and paired with carefully selected mid-century furnishings, original artworks, and quality linens to create a space that feels both authentic and comfortable.
Tucked away on a quiet street overlooking Georges Bay, Calypso is perfectly positioned for a relaxed coastal escape. It’s just a two-minute walk to the water’s edge, a 15-minute stroll into the heart of St Helens, and a 20-minute drive to the stunning Bay of Fires.
Designed with one or two couples in mind, the home offers two bedrooms, two living areas, a fully equipped character kitchen, two bathrooms, two toilets, and a spacious laundry with washer and dryer.
Start your day on the sun-drenched front balcony, overlooking the native garden. Keep an eye out for sea eagles or black cockatoos in the trees, and enjoy glimpses of the bay as oyster boats chug by. You might even spot local wallabies grazing in the garden. In the afternoon, head to the large, sunny back deck and fire up the Weber BBQ—perfect for a long, relaxed meal and a sundowner. Guests are also welcome to pick fruit from the trees when in season. For a gentle outing, stroll to the Beauty Bay jetty at the end of the street or follow the scenic walking and cycling track around the bay.
When the weather cools, the wood heater keeps the house warm and inviting. Curl up on the leather couch with a movie on the 75-inch smart TV, complete with soundbar and reliable high-speed internet for easy streaming. Music lovers can enjoy the record player with a selection of vinyl or connect via Bluetooth to play their own playlists.
Firewood is provided (just bring your own kindling), and for quiet nights in, there’s a collection of books, board games, puzzles, and cards. A secure storage shed is also available for bikes, boards, and fishing gear.
Calypso showcases the best of mid-century design, with its strong connection to nature and timeless aesthetic. Large northeast-facing windows invite natural light, while features such as atomic-style light fittings, mosaic tiles, wood panelling, and room dividers highlight its character. The original kitchen cabinetry has been retained and complemented with modern appliances for convenience, while the vintage furnishings add to the home’s unique charm in a sustainable, thoughtful way.
Everything is in place for a relaxed and memorable stay—just pack your bags and settle in. We’d love to welcome you to Calypso.
