A SIMPLE, EARTHY CABIN BUILT FROM RECLAIMED TIMBERS

An intimate retreat to call home during your exploration of Bruny Island.

Beachcomb for art supplies, forage in the herb gardens for breakfast and reconnect with mother nature.

A warm, simple and inviting space where natural living meets beauty.

THE SPACE

The cabin has just had a complete makeover but retains its charm with its original hand dropped bush poles and unique shape. A cosy retreat for a couple with king sized bed, wood heater, indoor kitchenette with outdoor cooking facilities (double gas burners, fridge, saucepans, wok, frypan, kettle etc), bath and good flow hot shower in the one open space room. A set of king billy french doors open onto a deck with expansive views across the channel to the southern ranges (which are capped with snow in winter).

The cabin is next to our family home and the shed where John bakes, but has privacy screening and blinds so you can relax fully in this private setting. We are the only people within a few km of you!

Our property is fully off the grid - our power comes from solar and wind sources. If the weather has been dull and calm for two days you may hear the gentle strum of the diesel generator bringing our batteries back into safety. Staying here is an experience in eco living. Your lights are 12 volts, but 240 v power points are in the room (so yes mobiles can be charged). Your hot water is instant gas with an inline pump bringing fresh rain water to you to bathe in and drink.

Heating is via a wood-burning fireplace. It will be set and ready to stick a match in, with plenty of wood available in your space.

The toilet is separate to the cabin, a short stroll up a pathway to a clean composting toilet.

We have a varied population of wildlife for visitors to enjoy. In the evenings with a spotlight you can see wallabies, possums and quolls. In the day time twitchers will be delighted with the population of sea eagles, wedgetail eagles, swift parrots and the peppermint forests make great habitat for the 40 spotted pardalote. On the foreshore you can find all manner of crabs and sea birds and other critters, and of course under the water there are a fabulous variety of fish and shell fish, seahorses and gardens of seaweeds to delight.

GUEST ACCESS

You have full access to our private water frontage. A perfect place to snorkel or swim, launch your kayaks or cast a fishing line, or simply go for a walk, investigate the flotsam and jetsam or sit for a picnic.

We are happy to show you through our vegetable gardens and introduce you to the chickens, as well as explain the power setup.

Walking over our 37 acres is welcomed.

Smoking outside only please.

There is so much to do on Bruny. If you also want some time to relax and enjoy your cabin and our 37 acre property and foreshore we highly recommend staying more than 1 night.
